The Mountain Athletic Conference is pleased to host the 2007 West 3A Regional at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. All entries will be via Direct Athletics. Entry deadline will be Friday, April 27th at 3:00 PM. See instructions below.

The NCHSAA has once again contracted with DA for all North Carolina Regions. The NCHSAA should be sending out a mailing soon regarding Direct Athletics.  

 

Please begin entering athletes as soon as you get this information so that you can become familiar with the Direct Athletics system. You can update/change entries right up until the deadline. If you wait until the last minute and have an access problem, we won’t be able to help you. Use the system as soon as you get your username and password. Also, you must enter the Meet name and Meet date with each Regional qualifying performance see we can verify entries. We’ll take the top 12 entries in each event unless more than 12 meet the qualification standard (in this case, all that make the standard qualify).

           

Entry Deadline:          Friday, April 27th at 3:00 PM.

Additional Info:          The following issues were once again discussed at the Regional Directors meeting in Chapel Hill:

·        Only 12 entries per event (unless more than 12 meet the standard). Even though we have access to an 8-lane track, we will only be allowed to accept 12 (unless more than 12 meet the standard). The NCHSAA’s logic is that not all Regions have access to 8-lane tracks.

·        We will not be allowed to add entries after the scratch meeting. We encourage coaches to enter athletes in the events that they’ll be participating in only. Entering an athlete only to ultimately scratch the athlete prevents us from accepting another athlete.

·        We will take 8 to finals.

·        Scoring must be only 6 deep (even though we’re on an 8-lane track).

 

T-shirts:                      Provided by the NCHSAA will be for sell at the Meet.

 

Admission:                  The NCHSAA requires a $6 admission charge for all spectators (excluding athletes competing in the Meet and their Coaches).          We need this money to pay for the timing and scoring. The Meet will be full FAT. So tell all your parents/fans to come and be generous!!!!

WCU is located in Cullowhee, NC, 5 miles south of Sylva on Highway 107.

From Asheville, NC and points east:
Follow I-40 West to Exit 27 (Highway 74 West). Follow Highway 74 West to Exit 85 in Sylva. At second light turn left onto Highway 107 South. Follow Highway 107 South to campus.

From Knoxville, TN and points west:
From I-40 East, take Exit 27 to Highway 74 West. Follow Highway 74 to Exit 85 in Sylva. At second light turn left onto Highway 107 South. Follow Highway 107 South to campus.

From Charlotte, NC:
From I-85 South, exit onto Highway 74 West towards Shelby. Follow Highway 74 West to I-26 West to Asheville. In Asheville, exit left onto I-40 West. Follow directions above from Asheville.

From Atlanta, GA:
From I-85 North, exit left onto I-985. I-985 will turn into GA 365 and will then merge with 441 North. Follow 441 North to Dillsboro, NC. At the light in Dillsboro, turn right onto Business 23. Follow Business 23 through Dillsboro and Sylva to Highway 107 South intersection. Go straight through intersection and follow Highway 107 South to campus.
